Long-Tailed Salamander
(Eurycea longicauda )



DESCRIPTION:   3 7/8-7 3/4" (9.8-19.7 cm). Slender tail much longer than body. Eastern form (Long-tailed): yellow to bright red-orange; scattered black spots, heaviest on sides, vertical black bars on tail, belly yellow.

STATUS:

RANGE:  South New York to West Virginia and extreme North Alabama, West to South. Missouri, North Arkansas, and adjacent Kansas and Oklahoma.

HABITAT:  Streamsides, spring runs, seepages, cave mouths.
