DESCRIPTION: 3 1/8-5 1/2" (7.9-14 cm). Black
above, with green or greenish-yellow patches. Head looks swollen
behind eyes. Toe tips expanded, squarish.
STATUS:
RANGE: Extreme Southwest Pennsylvania through
Allegheny and Cumberland mountains to c. Alabama; Blue Ridge
Mountains of North and South Carolina.
HABITAT: Damp, but not wet, sheltered, narrow crevices along
face of sandstone outcrop; also underneath loose bark of rotting
hardwood trees and stumps. To 4,400' (1,341 m). |
