RANGE: Breeds from eastern Manitoba to South
Carolina. Winters in central and south America, and is found
irregularly in the spring throughout the rest of north America.
STATUS: A species of concern
HABITAT:: Habitat specialist, prefers early successional stages
of old fields.
NEST: Nests on ground, may be hidden among grass clumps or
against the trunk of a tree: the nest may be made of grasses,
fine bark, and other fine fibers.
FOOD: Insects, spiders found by foraging amongst leaves.
