Fowler's Toad
(Bufo fowleri)



DESCRIPTION: 2-3 inches. Has three or more warts in each of largest dark spots. A virtually unspotted chest and belly. the general dorsal coloration is brown, gray, greenish, or brick red.  A light middorsal stripe.

STATUS: Abundant in the Atlantic Coastal Plain from Long Island to North Carolina

RANGE: South Maryland to the Florida Keys and as far west as Missouri and East Texas.

HABITAT: Chiefly sandy areas, around shores of lakes, or in river valleys. These Toads may appear suddenly after long periods of rain following a long draught.
