RANGE:

STATUS: Common.

HABITAT: Semiopen forest, mountain meadows, foothills, plains, and valleys.

SPECIAL HABITAT REQUIREMENTS:

BREEDING: Rut begins in September, calves (usually 1, rarely 2) are born in late Spring.

FOOD: Eat grasses, herbs, twigs and bark.
